NOBLE HEIR TOO QUICK IN TOMMY HOTSPUR

Noble Heir only knows one way to run and she was soon up there in the vanguard with topweight South Country also showing plenty of speed. Cyber Case and Strike Paradise tracked the leading pair with Sirius Star and Tirade next best and Cool Spender left with a stiff task after being slowly out of the gates.
Noble Heir and South Country were still blazing away past the 300m mark with Strike Paradise and Cyber Case asked to go after them. The latter two couldn't quite make up the ground and it was Cool Spender who emerged as the biggest threat in the closing stages, taking off from far back. Noble Heir wouldn't be denied, though, and the grey daughter of Kahal (GB) ran on resolutely to win by nearly a length.
There was plenty to like about this win as Noble Heir was taking on some tough male opposition and was sitting in the upper half of the handicap. She was recording her seventh win from 21 starts and has made a name for herself as one of the most genuine runners around in KwaZulu-Natal, always running her heart out, often under big weights. The race marked a rare graded success for trainer Bosch who deserves plenty of credit for his handling of the 4-year-old through three competitive seasons of racing and for his decision to send her up to the Highveld to take her chances.
Cool Spender was desperately unlucky as he blew his chances at the start and he ran a blinder in the circumstances while South Country also emerged with plenty of credit as he was only beaten a length into third, lugging 60kg and conceding weight down the field.
Fourth-placed Moroccan also turned in a very promising effort. Not only was he taking a steep jump in class but he looked certain to find this trip too sharp. He still has scope for improvement and he should back in the winner's box before long.
Noble Heir (SAF) is a 4-y-o filly by Kahal (GB) out of Irish Honour by Kilconnel (USA). She is owned by Messrs S H Franken and A Hadden and was bred by Connington Stud.
