RACE-2 MACAU HONG KONG TROPHY (GROUP 1) RATING 95+ (CLASS 1) 1500 METRES (319)
Near the 750 metres GOLDEN PISTOLS (K H YU) had to be steadied off the heels of ROMA PEGASUS (M CHADWICK) which shifted in. Jockey M CHADWICK the rider of ROMA PEGASUS was issued with a reprimand.
Jockey T PEREIRA the rider of ECLAIR FANTASTIC pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that leaving the 1400 metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NITTAN'S CROWN (M NUNES) forcing that horse in onto ROMA PEGASUS (M CHADWICK) which in turn shifted in resulting in UNIONLUCKY POWER (W L HO) having to be checked. GREAT ACHIEVEMENT (H W LAI) and ECSTATIC MACAU (K M CHIN) were also hampered in this incident. Thereafter Jockey T PEREIRA continued to allow his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NITTAN'S CROWN (M NUNES) forcing that horse to shift inwards approaching the 1300 metres, which resulted in ROMA PEGASUS (M CHADWICK) also having to be checked. Jockey T PEREIRA’s licence to ride in races was suspended for the racemeeting of 23rd and 24th April 2010. He was also fined the sum of HK$10,000 in lieu of 2 additional racemeetings. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 5:10 pm.
When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on VITAL FLYER, Jockey J LLOYD stated that VITAL FLYER was stepping up in distance in today’s race, and from the wide barrier and the expected speed in the race, he was instructed to position the horse further back than ridden previously. He further added that VITAL FLYER jumped away awkwardly and although he did obtain a position back in the field, he was obliged to race wide throughout.
After the race Jockey O DOLEUZE the rider of TERRIFIC BRETHREN and Jockey T PEREIRA the rider of ECLAIR FANTASTIC reported that their mounts failed to handle today’s track condition.
After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that VITAL FLYER (J LLOYD) had cast its left front shoe. A post veterinary examination of TERRIFIC BRETHREN (O DOLEUZE) and ECLAIR FANTASTIC (T PEREIRA) failed to reveal any significant abnormality other than TERRIFIC BRETHREN had cast its left front shoe and ECLAIR FANTASTIC had lost right front shoe.
Pre race samples were taken from all runners. Subsequent to the race, swab samples were taken from VIVA HONG KONG (F DURSO) and ECSTATIC MACAU (K M CHIN).
The 7th Macau Hong Kong Trophy(Macau Group 1, 1500m) was held at Taipa Racecourse today. Gary Moore-trained Macaurunner VIVA HONG KONG, ridden by jockey F Durso, won this HK$2.3 million interport event. Another pair of MacaurunnersECSTATIC MACAU andJAZZA BELLfinished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Hong Kongrunner VITAL FLYER finished 4th in the race
